Drive along the coast, stopping at the picturesque fishing port of Polperro, continue along to Fowey, famous for its links with Daphne Du Maurier, this small town situated in a natural harbour has a wealth of small shops, cafes and galleries. Now onto the famous Eden Project with it’s biomes housing plants from all corners of the world. Continue on to the Helford River and sample a traditional afternoon tea along the picturesque estuary. Call into Falmouth and visit the fascinating National Maritime Museum Cornwall, which takes you on a journey of Cornwall’s important maritime history.

Overnight in Falmouth.

Day 2
Have an early start and visit one of the stunning, yet unspoilt small villages dotted around the Lizard Peninsular, including Cadgwith, Coverack and St Keverne. Walk a section of the amazing South West Coast Path and then head around the coast to Mullion Cove, stopping here for a quick lunch.

Now onto the ‘Jewel in Cornwall’s Crown’ St Michaels Mount, an impressive sight as you wind your way through the Cornish roads stopping at Mounts Bay to view the stunning castle on its rock which dates from 12thC. The castle can be reached by foot, or ferry at high tide in the summer. Call into Penzance, a popular resort and fishing port on Mount's Bay with a mainly Victorian promenade and some fine Regency terraces. Discover the story of the ‘Mousehole Cat’ in the historic fishing port of Mousehole just along the coast, where every Christmas a spectacular light display dominates the sea front and attracts visitors from far and wide.

Now back to Penzance to catch either the plane, helicopter or boat over to the stunning Isles of Scilly and spending the night on St Mary’s, the largest of the islands, take a walk along the Garrison before dinner enjoying the uninterrupted views.

Overnight in St Mary’s.

Day 3
Explore the islands – hopping between them using scheduled boat service. Spend the morning on the island of Tresco with its two ancient castles and magnificent shell-strewn beaches in the east and south. Not forgetting a visit to the world famous sub-tropical Abbey Gardens. Then onto Bryher in time for lunch, the smallest of the islands. After having time to explore decide either to visit St Martin’s, blessed with some of the finest beaches in Scilly or St Agnes where you’ll find secluded sandy coves, weathered granite tors and a 17th-century lighthouse. Now back to St Mary’s for the return journey to the mainland. On arrival in Penzance head up the coast and call in at Sennen Cove, if time you can walk along the coast path to Land’s End. Spend the evening in picturesque St Ives, brimming with galleries, restaurants and cafes. Explore the cobbled backstreets and have dinner in a small beach café overlooking the Atlantic.

Overnight in St Ives.

Day 4
Going back on yourself slightly, just down the coast is the fantastic site of the Minack Theatre, an outside theatre built into the Cornish cliffs which hosts wonderful matinee and evening performances. Venture inland now and visit one of the many wonderful Cornish gardens, including Trebah, Trengwainton or Trelissick. Spend the afternoon exploring the bustling cathedral city of Truro, visit the Cathedral, Coinage Hall and The Royal Cornwall Museum. Head now to Newquay, a Mecca for surfers and anything ‘cool’ - where you can eat fish and chips on the seafront or have dinner at a beach side restaurant overlooking the boats in the harbour.

Overnight in Newquay.

Day 5
From Newquay make the short drive to Padstow – famous for it’s resident chef Rick Stein – this harbour town on the West side of the Camel estuary in North Cornwall is worthy of a visit. If time, hire a bike and cycle part of the Camel Trail which runs parallel with the estuary and stop in Wadebridge for a break and then back to Padstow for lunch – where you will be spoilt for choice! If you choose to cycle further along the Camel Trail you will come across the Camel Valley Vineyard where you are welcome to sample the wine whilst viewing the vineyard.

Drive back to Plymouth to drop off hire car and return flight.
