Day 1
Arrive in Salisbury and choose your accommodation, perhaps a 16th Century Inn, a cosy B&B or a modern hotel.
Discover Salisbury Cathedral and climb the tower to see the highest spire in Britain.
Marvel at the world famous Stonehenge.
Day 2
Explore the gardens and magnificent rooms of the 450 year old Wilton House, home of the Earl of Pembroke.
Rummage through the bustling markets of Bradford-on-Avon. Climb the steep rows of mill workers' cottages for picturesque views over the town.
Day 3
Spend a day on a narrow boat on the Kennet and Avon Canal - enjoying the wildlife (herons, kingfishers and buzzards are plentiful) and watching the world pass you by.
Alternatively you could hire bikes and cycle along next to it, don't miss the impressive the Caen Hill locks, a set of 16 canal locks climbing a steep hill.
Day 4
Walk or cycle from Tisbury railway station to Old Wardour Castle or one of many other magnificent walks or cycle trails in the area.
Alternatively spend the day at Longleat House and Safari Park.
Day 5
Explore the extensive gardens, lake and adventure playground at Bowood House and Garden.
Discover Avebury - the world famous stone circle.
The picturesque National Trust village of Lacock is home to the 13th century Lacock Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum of Photography.
Day 6
Spend a day in the lovely old market town of Devizes. Explore with the town trail to find some delightful and individual shops.
Look out for the Wadworth dray delivering famous local ales to pubs around town and find out whether the brewery is open for a tour
Day 7
STEAM, Swindon, is the museum of the Great Western Railway, where the atmosphere of the Swindon Works is recreated using sounds, real objects and world famous locomotives.
Visit the nearby Swindon Designer Outlet for a little retail therapy.
